About the Deutsche Musiktherapeuthische Gesellschaft
The Deutsche Musiktherapeuthische Gesellschaft (DMtG) works towards embedding music therapy firmly within the German health care system. Patients and relatives can ask for information and advice via phone and use a nation-wide database of music therapists. Interested parties can ask for information regarding music therapy training and educations in the field.
Founded as the “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Musiktherapie” in 1973, it was expanded when the “Berufsverband für MusiktherapeutInnen” joined in 2008 and became the Deutsche Musiktherapeutische Gesellschaft which remains the largest union of music therapists in Germany with approximately 1400 members. Because of a lack of laws protecting the professional field of music therapy, the DMtG aims to establish standards of quality and education in order to ensure the wellbeing of patients. Additionally, they feel it is important to establish music therapy as a service that is included in health insurances. There is enough proof of the effectiveness of music therapy – its therapeutic use in conjunction with e.g. dementia, strokes, and psychosocial therapies is well-established.

We use regular audio conferences – which no longer tax our ressources thanks to meetgreen – to keep our board members and work groups up to date,” stresses CEO Judith Brunk, and adds full of praise,”we use meetgreen’s conferences for our weekly board meetings and also use the virtual conference room. It works well, is not complicated, and has great audio quality.”
Besides employing music within a therapeutic framework for the restoration, preservation, and the promotion of physical and spiritual health, the DMtG also publishes the Musiktherapeutische Umschau, a specialized magazine, which shares scientific data results and promotes networking within the scientific community. “Ever since it is possible to add more than six participants to a conference, even our editorial department has been able to use meetgreen for its conferences. This makes communication so much easier.” For more than one and a half years, the DMtG has been using meetgreen’s conferencing services for various business communications on every level.
